Skills & Drills

Pistol/Carbine Workshop

Jim Erwin

Shooting Performance Institute

Fundamentals are the foundation to everything. This class will build upon them and challenge you mentally as well. The class is designed to build upon established fundamentals with drills and scenarios. We then discuss the different setups and what your perception of the situation was and how you dealt with it. Scenarios will be put in place to make you think as you move and which weapons platform best fit the situation at hand. We will challenge your accuracy and your shoot/no shoot thought process. So come join us for a fun day on the range and be ready to learn on the move.

Both shooting platforms is preferred but if you just have one or the other that is also fine. There will be ground work so dress accordingly

What Students Are Saying...

Excellent Class

Jim’s CCW class is informative, direct, and applicable. There’s no ego involved, he’ll occasionally insert relevant personal experience, but will move on well before it reaches the point of self-aggrandizement all too common in firearms circles. Male or female, new to guns or experienced, Jim breaks down the basic concepts, checks for understanding and only then continues. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

As a first time CCW applicant I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The classroom session was informative and in-depth, you will learn a lot and was interactive. The qualification/range time was great, Jim reviewed safety, grip, stance, and requirements. He is a very personable and makes you feel comfortable. I highly recommended this class, I will definitely take additional instruction with Jim.

Never taken any kind of gun safety class before! Jim not only gave accredited vital information, he made the class absolutely fun! Totally 💯 would recommend taking any class again from him! Plan on getting more in depth training on how to effectively use my handgun and feel more comfortable to carry! Thanks again Jim 🤩

Jim was informative, thorough, and made the class interesting. The tips/training you’ll get from him made it worth every penny. Jim went above and beyond what a normal CCW class typically teaches you.

Excellent practical course

I took Jim’s CCW class last month. I was apprehensive at first thinking that I would be criticized for my inexperience and the fact that I am a “mature” single woman. Jim gives a great class, lots of good information, and good stories to relieve tension and demonstrate important points of firearm handling. Both Jim and his wife Annaliese helped relieve my concerns. At the range, they both helped with suggestions on grip, stance, and posture. If I had known that working with them would be so comfortable, I would have taken a class months ago. I was impressed by the way they treated all of their students regardless of their age or level of experience (or inexperience). I highly recommend their CCW class.
